10:30 - 11:30 am
The worship service begins at 10:30 am and runs until 11:30 am. During the
service the children enjoy a special sermon prepared just for them by one of
Parkway's members. While the little ones head off to the nursery after the
children's sermon is over, children from second grade and above remain for the
worship service. A children's service bag is available at the entrance of the
sanctuary. It is filled with games and exercises to help the children
understand the day's lesson.
Children are always a big part of Parkway's service and on many occasions the
congregation is treated to a performance from the children's bell choir, a
bible story puppet show or a special theatrical presentation depicting God's
love.
Every Sunday the service is enhanced with music from Parkway's adult choir,
under the direction of Kate Arthurs. While we are without a pastor, sermons
are provided by visiting ministers and ordained elders.
Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month. At Parkway, we invite
everyone to participate in communion. You don't have to be a member of Parkway
or even a Presbyterian, you just have to accept Jesus Christ as your savior.
10:40 - 11:30 am
The Preschool children's music program is incorporated in the weekly Children's
Church Program that takes place during our 10:30 worship service. After the
children's sermon segment, our Preschool - First grade primarily and second
graders and above who are not yet comfortable in the larger church experience
exit the corporate service to participate in Children's Church.
This 45 minute program begins with group prayer, welcoming new comers, Bible
study, scripture reinforcing activities and music. The music segment includes
singing and playing "Krystal bells," which are a color coded flash card system
that allows children of all ages to feel accomplishment.
Our group concludes with a prayer that incorporates concerns of the children.
If time permits outside play or fellowship is included.
