Christmas Videos

Sunday, December 18, was a glorious day at Parkway for praising God and for celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  In the morning Worship Service we enjoyed the Children’s annual Christmas Pageant. Then in the evening we gathered for the beautiful Choir Cantata, accompanied by our Handbell Ensemble, a string quartet and Victoria Tran.  You can relive the day, or enjoy for the first time by clicking on this link.

Annual Meeting

Sunday, January 29th following the 10:30 am Worship Service
Lunch will be served

This year’s annual meeting will be an important one for us. Not only will we reflect briefly on our ministry for the Lord in 2011 and look ahead to what is before us, but we will also establish our members and friends, reaffirm our bylaws, and set rules for Parkway that used to be established in the Book of Order (but now we are called to set ourselves). We will, of course, begin the meeting with a good meal. We will also set the pastor’s terms of call for 2012, elect a member to serve on the Memorial Fund Committee, as well as elect two members to serve on the Nominating Committee.  The meeting will last approximately an hour.

If you are interested in Parkway and our future together, this is a meeting you will want to attend. Only members vote, but our friends and neighbors are welcome to speak. We look forward to seeing you there.

Acolytes Program

Saturday, February 4th at 1 pm

On February 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Acolyte Training will take place for children in second grade and above. We ask that a parent or guardian accompany each student. Upon completion of the training, students will be commissioned and begin service on Sunday, February 5, 2012. The Acolytes will serve once a month, on the first Sunday of the month during the 10:30 a.m. traditional worship service. Two students will serve each month. One book bearer and one candle lighter will be taking part in worship. An acolyte parent will assist in the preparations each month.

Son Rise Service

Sundays - 8:30 am

Looking for some quiet time with God?  Our Son Rise service may be for you.  It’s a 30 minute service held every Sunday in our sanctuary.  The service is centered around prayer, scripture, song and meditation.  We also share communion at the Lord’s table each Sunday.  All are welcome, so please join us.

Weekly Prayer Group

Wednesdays at 10:30 am

Our Prayer Group is open to all who desire to engage in prayer for individuals, our community, our state, our nation, and our world.  We meet in the library each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., except on the last Wednesday of the month when we meet in the sanctuary for a prayer service. All prayers offered in worship, submitted to the office, and presented through our members are uplifted and shared with those who gather.

Bridges Class

Wednesdays at 5:30 pm
at the Metairie Piccadilly on South I-10 Service Rd.

Led by the Reverend Tom Paine

The Pastor’s Bridges class gathers on Wednesday nights, at the Piccadilly on the South I-10 Service Road in Metairie for dinner. For those unfamiliar with this class, it focuses on our Scripture readings for the upcoming Sunday.  We look at their setting, background, and message and discuss a way to “bridge” that point in time with our own.  You don’t need to have read the readings in advance and you don’t need to eat to come and enjoy the discussion.

Second Harvest Mission

Parkway members are honored for their service to the Second Harvest Food Bank!  Check out the article here. (on the 3rd page)
